From a single location, we have grown into a worldwide enterprise with some 2,400 employees and a worldwide presence. Our continued growth has been the result of building trusted and effective client relationships through a philosophy of focused client service, professional integrity, depth of experience and the strategic acquisition of complementary businesses. Key acquisitions came in 2002 when the company purchased Anapharm, Inc., significantly adding to our early stage clinical capabilities, and in 2004 when we acquired PharmaNet, Inc., and its global subsidiaries, forming the backbone of our late stage development services. In 2009, PharmaNet was acquired by JLL Partners, a leading private equity investment. Other key milestones are detailed below:
