Difficult Dosage Regimen for Metastatic Breast Cancer
Client: A large, global pharmaceutical company with an oncology drug in Phase II clinical trials.

Challenge: Enroll and retain patients and investigators despite a difficult dosing regimen.

Solutions: Assess sites’ capabilities and patient populations before attempting recruitment. Survey sites to identify enrollment barriers. Supply hands-on support to sites and respond promptly to their needs. Educate patients and site staff about the history, experience, and potential benefits of the study drug.

Outcome: Enrollment was completed on time. Based on feasibility studies conducted by PharmaNet, the protocol was revised to maximize enrollment. PharmaNet also noted during site recruitment that one of the protocol’s dosages was uncommon in the US. As a result, the sponsor may expand the study to other countries.
